பருமனான பெண்களை பேரலுடன் ஒப்பிட்டு விளம்பரம் வெளியிட்ட ஜிம்: கொதித்த நெட்டிசன்கள்

உடல் பருமன் இன்று இளைய தலைமுறையினரை வாட்டி எடுக்கும் பிரச்சனையாக உள்ளது. மாறிவரும் உணவு பழக்கம், முறையற்ற வேலை நேரம் உள்ளிட்ட வாழ்வியல் முறைகளால் உடல் பருமன் ஏற்படுகிறது. இதனால், ஆண், பெண் என இருபாலினத்தவரும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டாலும், பெண்கள் அதனால் பலராலும் அவமானபடுத்தப்படுகின்றனர்.

உடற்பயிற்சி கூடங்களில் விளம்பரம் கூட பெண்களை மையப்படுத்திதான் உள்ளது. பெண்கள் இந்த வடிவத்திலும், அளவிலும் இருக்க வேண்டும் என்றே சமூகம் எதிர்பார்க்கின்றது.

இலங்கையில் உள்ள ஓஸ்மோ (OSMO) என்ற ஜிம், பெண்களை பேரலுடன் (பீப்பாய்) ஒப்பிட்டு விளம்பரம் வெளியிட்டுள்ளது, பலரையும் கொதிப்படைய வைத்துள்ளது. அந்த விளம்பரத்தில், ”இது பெண்களுக்கான வடிவம் இல்லை”, என குறிப்பிடப்பட்டிருந்தது.

பாலியல் ரீதியாக இத்தகைய விளம்பரத்தை வெளியிட்டதற்கு, சமூக வலைத்தளங்களில் நெட்டிசன்கள் எதிர்ப்பை பதிவு செய்து வருகின்றனர். பலரும், #BoycottOsmo என்ற ஹேஷ்டேக் மூலம் ஓஸ்மோ ஜிம்மை புறக்கணிப்போம் என பதிவிட்டு வருகின்றனர்.

If they were so concerned about the health of women they could have created a campaign around helping women feel their best. It was poorly thought out, derogatory, sexist & a cheap shot at a demographic that keeps being told that looks matter more than well-being and achievement.
